LAKE CHARLES – Reed Falcon, an eight-year old parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, captured first place in the 2018 Vocation Drawing Contest of the Diocese of Lake Charles.
More than 100 entries were received, according to Rev. Jeffrey Starkovich, vocaton director. Falcon’s first place drawing along with the second and third place choices – the former by Abrea Findley, a 10-year old parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton and the latter by Reece Trahan, a 10-year old parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a student at Our Lady’s Catholic School, both in in Sulphur. “We certainly want to thank all of those who contributed their drawings,” Father Starkovich said.
The contest was held in honor of World Day of Prayer for Vocations on Sunday, April 22.
Falcon’s top entry, which was reproduced as a prayer card with the diocesan vocations prayer on the reverse, earned him $200 and will be distributed throughout the diocese. The second-place entrant received $100 with third place getting $50.
