LAKE CHARLES – The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles, those located in Calcasieu Parish, will begin the 2018-2019 school term on Thursday, August 16, 2018 and end on Friday May 24, 2019, according to the 2018-2019 calendar released by the Office of Catholic Schools. Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School in Jennings will open its school year on Friday, August 10, to coincide with Jefferson Davis Parish public schools.
Schools include St. Louis, Catholic High School, Immaculate Conception Cathedral Catholic School, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School, St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School in Moss Bluff, Our Lady’s Catholic School in Sulphur, and Our Lady Immaculate.
Holidays, days the students are not in attendance, include Labor Day, Monday, September 3; All Saints Day, Wednesday, November 1; Thanksgiving, Monday, November 19 to Friday, November 23; Christmas, Monday December 24 to Friday, January 4; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday January 21; Mardi Gras, Friday, March 1 to Tuesday, March 5; and Easter, Friday April 19 to Friday April 26. An additional holiday for students at Our Lady Immaculate is Fair Day, on Friday, October 5.
In-service days for teachers at all schools are Monday, October 8; Friday, February 15; and Thursday, May 23.
