WASHINGTON—Pope Francis has named Bishop David P. Talley, up until now Auxiliary Bishop of Atlanta, as Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria, Louisiana.

As a citizen of this country, as a Catholic Priest and Bishop, and as an African-American, I am deeply distressed by the recent violent eruptions of the racial divide in the United States.

LAKE CHARLES -- Bishop Glen John Provost visited Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur Thursday morning and offered prayers of thanksigiving with Father Jay Alexius, pastor, and some 40 people in the church. Father Alexius had sent out word that the Bishop would be there to offer prayers.

Bishop Glen John Provost has appointed the Very Reverend Ruben Buller as Chief Financial Officer for the Diocese of Lake Charles.
