Effective May 1, 2020, I am lifting the suspension on public liturgies in the Diocese of Lake Charles. The faithful are hungry for the Eucharist.
LAKE CHARLES — The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop of the Diocese of Lake Charles, joined Archbishop José H. Gomez, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, on May 1, in renewing the Consecration of the United States to Mary, Mother of the Church. U.S. bishops also joined bishops and faithful in Canada as they consecrated their country to Mary.

Greetings in our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
It has been four weeks since we suspended public religious services in the Diocese of Lake Charles, granting a dispensation from the obligation of attending Mass on the days required. We desperately miss the Sacraments being celebrated openly and with our brothers and sisters in Christ. At the same time, the COVID-19 virus continues to menace our population.

LAKE CHARLES — There’s nothing like a parade filled with family and friends to cure the COVID-19 quarantine blues.
In concurrence with the recent announcement made by Governor John Bel Edwards that school buildings are officially closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, students in Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles will not be returning to their classrooms this school year. As approved by Bishop Glen John Provost and Superintendent Kimberlee Gazzolo, distance learning will continue for students through Friday, May 15.
