In concurrence with the recent announcement made by Governor John Bel Edwards that school buildings are officially closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, students in Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles will not be returning to their classrooms this school year. As approved by Bishop Glen John Provost and Superintendent Kimberlee Gazzolo, distance learning will continue for students through Friday, May 15.
Senior students, Class of 2020, will have details provided to them regarding academics and graduation by St. Louis Catholic High School administration.
A statement from the Office of Catholic Schools reads, "As we work to finalize details for end of the year celebrations, and for summer programs, we remain committed to our students and families and we appreciate your support during this unprecedented time. We will continue to communicate via social media, school websites and email. We thank our pastors, administrators, teachers and staff for their unwavering dedication to their students and we look forward to the time when we can be together again! We ask that you continue to pray for the sustained good health of all and for the recovery of the sick."
