“How many boxes of food does your family need?” Brother Daniel Morrissey, CFR, asked as a vehicle drove up to Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana. “Do you need any diapers?”

Deacon Harry “Bud” Edward Wagner Jr., 90, who died on April 2, was interred in New Bethany Cemetery, located at Saint Charles Center in Moss Bluff, following a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Tuesday, April 6, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur.

LAKE CHARLES — Modeled after a Holy Week tradition begun in Rome in the 16thcentury, more than 70 people took to the streets of Lake Charles to participate in a Seven Church Walk on Good Friday.

On the night of the Easter Vigil, the deacon approaches the bishop following the reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans.   The deacon faces the bishop and announces to him: “Most Reverend Father, I bring you a message of great joy, the message of Alleluia.”   At this point, all stand and the “Alleluia,” which we have not heard since before Ash Wednesday, is sung.  Christ is risen!  Alleluia!
