OPELOUSAS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, for Reverend Monsignor Louis J. Melancon, a retired priest of the Diocese of Lake Charles, in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Msgr. Melancon, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30.
The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop of Lake Charles, and Lafayette Diocese Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel concelebrated the Mass.
The Rite of Committal followed at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
