BELL CITY — Monsignor Daniel A. Torres, Vicar General, installed Reverend Paul D’Sa, M.O.C., as Pastor of St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
As part of the Rite of Installation, Father D’Sa, with his hand resting on Sacred Scripture, recited the Oath of Fidelity after leading the congregation in the Profession of Faith. The Rite concluded with the signing of documents by Monsignor Torres and the new pastor.
Father D’Sa, who was assigned by Bishop Glen John Provost to St. John Vianney Parish, effective July 1, 2023, was ordained in 2017 to the priesthood for Missionaries of Compassion, a Society of Clerics of Apostolic Life.
A marine engineer by profession, he was inspired at the age of 34 to join Divine Retreat Center in Kerala State, India, to serve the people of God as a lay preacher and counselor where he remained from 1995 to 2008. He then joined Ecclesiastical studies at St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute cum Seminary, completing his studies in 2014 before joining Missionaries of Compassion.
Following ordination, Father D’Sa worked as the Administrator cum procurator of a school for a year, then was appointed as Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chamarajanagar in the Diocese of Mysore, under the Most Revered K.A. William, Bishop.
Father D’Sa said the people at St. John Vianney are very devout and very supportive. He especially enjoys the Cajun food and Mexican food here in Southwest Louisiana.
