Bishop Glen John Provost issued the following statement upon the issuance of Traditionis custodes on the Memorial Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16, 2021:
“In keeping with the practice of my predecessors, the Latin Mass according to the Missal of 1962 has always been permitted in the Diocese of Lake Charles in accord with universal and diocesan law. This liturgy has been a blessing to many since the establishment of the Diocese, and I foresee its continuance for the pastoral care of the flock. Since Traditionis custodes was made effective on the day of its issuance, the same day I learned of it through media sources without prior official communication, this document will be studied in due course with the input of my canonical and liturgical advisors. Instructions will follow from the Diocesan Office of Worship. In the meantime, liturgical schedules remain unchanged.”
