LAKE CHARLES – Bishop Glen John Provost has appointed Sr. Miriam MacLean, RSM, as Secretary for the Ministry of Pastoral Services and Director of Catholic Social Services of Southwest Louisiana, effective Monday, Sept. 24, 2018.

Sr. Miriam, who previously served in the Diocese of Lake  Charles as Director of Religious Education before returning to Michigan to complete her Ph.D. in Social Work at Michigan State University, takes over the two assignments from Sr. Mary Vianney Walsh, RSM, who has served in the diocese for a number of years. She will return to the Sacred Heart Health Care Center in Alma, Michigan, at the Order’s Motherhouse.

“Sister Mary Vianney has served faithfully and tirelessly as Director of Catholic Charities and Secretary for Pastoral Services,” Bishop Provost said. “This important work of the Diocese has flourished under her leadership. We will miss her but know that she will continue her good ministry elsewhere. Please keep our good sisters in your Prayers.

”Additionally, the Bishop announced that another Religious Sister of Mercy, Sr. Sister Mary Thoma Houseal, RSM, is coming to the diocese, joining the community later in the year.
