LAKE CHARLES – Honors to students, teachers, and staff of St. Louis Catholic High School were presented over the final few days of the school term of 2016-2017.

At the graduation ceremonies on May 16, the school’s Teacher of the Year Award, which began last year with the idea of recognizing excellence in Catholic education and dedication Jesus Christ, master teacher, as an educator at Saint Louis Catholic High School., went to  Mrs. Diane Guillory and Mrs. Karen Crawford.
   The inaugural presentation of the Daniel P. Ieyoub Service Excellence Award., given in honor of the late Daniel P. Ieyoub in honor of service to any ancillary, support and other professional working on the school’s campus in support of the mission of the school and Christ Jesus, was made to Mrs. Cheryl Cooley.

Fifty-five seniors who completed their high school careers with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.75 and 6 or more honors or A.P. courses were Honor Graduates. These included: Kassem Abu-Shamat. John Henry Ammons.

   Valedictorian Samuel Bruchhaus and Salutatorian Noah McNally received Louisiana House of Representative Commendations Awards on behalf of Representative Mark Abraham.

McNally was also named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship  program and received a certificate for his accomplishments in the competition.

The Student of the Year for the school was Lucy Ryder, honored for her outstanding achievement in Academics, Leadership, and Service.
   Nearly $5 million in scholarships were offered to the graduating seniors of St. Louis, not including the Louisiana  TOPS scholarships for which graduates would become eligible late in June.

Thirty-one St. Louis senior students who were successful on the district and state rally teams were recognized - Emma Bouillion, 1st place Biology II District; Anna Bushnell, 1st place English IV District;  Frederick Dempsey, 1st place Physics District, Hunter Dore’, Excellent Rating in French IV Interpretive Reading, Bailey Galicia, 2nd place Environmental Science District,  Noah McNally, 1st place Calculus District, 2nd place Calculus State, William Richard, 1st place Financial Math District,  and James Vanchiere, Overall District Winner, Fine Arts Survey and 3rd  Place Fine Arts Survey State.

James Vanchiere was presented with the Plauche’ DAR Special Award as a senior who is an outstanding American History student, and exhibited academic excellence and personal qualities of: Honor, Trustworthiness, Leadership and Patriotism. The Peter Caldarera Memorial Trophy presented to the Student Council Executive President in appreciation of hard work and dedication to the students of St. Louis Catholic High School went Sam Bruchhaus.
  
Sarah Corbello received the Celebrate Team Award. Liturgical Choir Awards went to Anthony Beau Faul, Cameron Fontenot, Julian Gonzales, and Ashlyn Theriot.  American Legion Awards to two seniors who exhibited Leadership, Patriotism, Honor, Courage, Service, and Scholarship went to Alec Reddoch and Madeline Lechtenberg. The DAR Good Citizens Award,  given locally by the Louisiana Bayou Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution., went to Sam Bruchhaus .
   The Scottish Rite Patriotism Award went to Ashlyn Theriot and Andre Ange, who received the Broussard and Hart Scholarship
 
The Knights of Columbus Patriotic Degree Patriotic Award was given to Noah McNally; The Catholic Youth Leadership Awards went to Luke Benoit for the LaSalette Knights of Columbus Council 5755; and Anthony Beau Faulf or the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish Council.  Sarah Cormier,  Samuel Hacker, Sophie Hacker, and James Vanchiere were honored with membership in NJCL Latin Honor Society. The Service Above Self Award from the Lake Charles Rotary Club, along with a scholarship,  went to Logan Guillory.
  
McNeese State University Regional Math Awards went to members of the Level 12 – third place team: Sam Bruchhaus, Noah McNally and James Vanchiere
  
Tournament of the Stars scholarships were awarded to Dasia May, Luke Burnham, Brianna Broussard, Caroline Cagle, and Daniel Best; Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winners were  Lucy Ryder, also a state finalist and Sam Bruchhaus.  The Burger King Scholars Award went to Heather Vogel and Chloe Zarek; the Fritz Lang Foundation Scholarship was awarded Emilee Papadimitriou and the Ronald Reagan Student Leader Award went to Logan Guillory and the Bishop Nolan Episcopal Day School Parent Guild Scholarship went to Corinne Grubb.
   A Life Share Blood Centers Life Scholar certificate went to Corrine Grubb; Amanda Casiday was given  the Neffie Rhorer Memorial Scholarship; and honored as Senior Future Business Leaders of America were Kassem Abu-Shamat, Katherine Booth, Emily Dempsey, Frederick Dempsey, Anthony Gagliano, Logan Guillory, Tiffany Lowery, Gabriela Moran, Lucy Ryder, August Simien, Emily Snider, Lawrence Sweet, Everlynn Truong, and James Vanchiere.
  
Katherine Booth was selected for a Louisiana Pigment Scholarship Program Award to be used for educational related expenses and Caroline Neck was selected to receive a scholarship from the Louisiana Football Coaches Association. The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Scholarship in honor of Dr. Ulric Pryce went to . August Simien while the Zeta Phi Beta Scholarship was presented to Malinda Stevens. The Beta Kappa Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority presented the Marietta T. Brown Scholarship/Educational Scholarships to August Simien and Lawrence Sweet, who also was presented the Top Teens Scholarship by the Top Ladies of Distinction while Tatiana Manthey received  the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Scholarship.
