LAKE CHARLES – Results of a recent survey of Catholic institutions within the Diocese of Lake Charles show that 1,592 people are employed by the Church in Southwest Louisiana – ranking it in the top 10 of major employers in the area.
These employees work in the 39 church parishes, seven Catholic schools, at Christus/St. Patrick Hospital, and as administrative staff of the Diocese, including those in the Chancery, Bishop Harold Perry Building, Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana, Office of Catholic Schools, Stella Maris Seafarers Center, and Saint Charles Center.
The number of staff members includes full-time and part-time combined – priests, deacons, and paid religious as well as lay staff.
