Are you passionate about serving the poor? Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana is seeking a Food Bank and Warehouse Manager to organize its warehouse operations and coordinate food distributions across Southwest Louisiana.  Catholic Charities believes in the dignity of each person and strives to offer services that help its clients thrive.  Their food bank also provides an amazing opportunity to invite community members into its Christ-centered mission — working with local schools, businesses, church communities and nonprofits — engaging them in serving the needs of the poor in Southwest Louisiana.

Responsibilities of the Food Bank and Warehouse Manager include:

  • Train, maintain schedules and track hours for volunteers serving in assignments related to the warehouse and food bank.
  • Assist in maintenance of volunteer certifications, safety requirements, and compliance related to the warehouse and food bank.
  • Manage warehouse inventory: rotating inventory to ensure freshness, purchasing supplies, coordinating food drives and food distributions to balance incoming and outgoing supplies.
  • Prepare paperwork related to food bank and warehouse, including packing and client distribution lists for food distributions, new client registration and volunteer forms, and documentation of incoming and outgoing food and non-food supplies for grant reports, audits, etc.
  • Maintain/coordinate upkeep of warehouse including repairs, stocking, recycling, janitorial duties, and vehicle maintenance logs.

Qualifications:

  • Good relational skills.  Ability and desire to build and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills.
  • Basic email and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.  
  • Ability to drive a 26-ft box truck, operate forklift and pallet jacks.  Or, physical capacity and willingness to learn these skills.
  • Ability to work weekdays 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM with flexibility to meet program needs.
