At their annual Fall Plenary Assembly in Baltimore November 15-18, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops agreed that the sainthood causes for three laypeople from the U.S. should be advanced by their respective dioceses. Two causes, those of Charlene Marie Richard and Auguste Robert “Nonco” Pelafigue, were presented by Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel of Lafayette.

The Diocese of Lake Charles will hold the first Eucharistic Congress in its 41-year history November 12-21 to bring about a spiritual renewal and deeper understanding of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

LAKE CHARLES — Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated the All Souls Day Remembrance Mass at Consolata Cemetery at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2. There were more than 500 people in attendance.
